2022 Rose of Grenache, The Strong Box

Winemaker Notes - This isn't your everyday stainless steel Rose you find at the grocery store. We approached this wine in true Piolet fashion, to create a rose which possessed a balance of fresh aromatics and a viscous texture that will stand tall to the test of time. This Grenache is all Tablas Creek Clone from Horse Heaven Hills AVA. We picked this block and allowed a two hour cold soak, then bled off this delicious nectar directly into large format french oak puncheons. Each barrel begun a self started native fermentation then around halfway through primary, we inoculated with a cultured yeast to finish this cool ferment safely. After completion, we rested this wine in barrel for 12 months and bottled unfiltered and unfined. We hope you will dig it!   

Our impression of this Rose – The 2022 Rose of Grenache presents itself in a pale pink color with mineral-tinged, ripe and juicy watermelon fruit. This crisp, dry Provence-style wine shows aromas of citrus zest mingled with a delicate hint of honeysuckle blossoms and fresh herbs. On the palate, this wine offers refreshing flavors of grapefruit, strawberry, and mandarin. Perfect for these beautiful sunny Spring days leading into Summer.
